-April 28th, Sam Muñoz & Aaron Muñoz are invited to perform as 1 of the 187 shows at the NYC International Fringe Festival.
Sam grew up on the south side of Chicago.
His parents enrolled him in the Second City training program during high school compelling a desire to create characters and stories. From there, he immersed himself in many forms of movement and dramatic arts such as Sword Fighting at Columbia College of Chicago (B.A. Theater), Acting at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater and Ladder Fighting at Defiant Theater. His dedication awarded him scholarships to The National Theater Conservatory in Denver where he studied Low Flying Trapeze, Acting, as well as trained under Tony Church of The Royal Shakespeare Company, and Archie Smith – who was one of the very first students of Michael Chekhov.
New skies and roads came for several years as Sam backpacked through the Sierra Nevada, explored the abandoned Calico mines of Barstow, rode horses across Montana’s vast terrain, and hiked the dirt roads of central Mexico, where he learned about his heritage. After his matriculation from CCC and NTC, he was passionate about continuing his training despite having established a strong record of employment in the Chicago theater community.
On a break from his travels he crashed an audition in Chicago and was offered a full scholarship to Florida Atlantic University Professional Actor’s Training Program where he received his MFA. During his training there (in between days of chasing giant lizards around South Florida) he was cast in the role of Hamlet, trained under Estelle Kohler & Bill Homewood of the Royal Shakespeare Company, served as a University Adjunct Professor teaching Acting, Stage Combat, Movement & Shakespeare.
Before heading to Los Angeles, Sam’s thrill-seeking nature led him across the US where he acted in theater, films and commercials while surfing amongst Great Whites in Hawaii, hanging off the edges of the Grand Canyon, bathing naked in the hot springs of Idaho, and howling amongst the sky-touching Redwoods of Trinidad, California.
And the adventure continues…
